How to Decorate a Holiday Banquet Table

Add to the magic of the holidays and celebrations by creating a festive banquet table. Candles add elegance and warmth to a table, and the assorted sizes and shapes of candles make it easy to create a diverse design theme. Purchase coordinated tableclothes and runners, flatware and dish containers to complete the look of the table. Place a tablecloth in the holiday color of your choice, such as deep red, on the table and arrange flatware, silverware, napkins and assorted food containers on the table as desired. Use red, green and white flatware and food containers. Add a lace runner to the table.

Display a centerpiece, such as large white or off-white candle on a large, pretty dish. Make a floral arrangement around the candle's base on the dish using items such as holly leaves and berries, poinsettias, Christmas tree branches, and red and white roses. Sprinkle silver and red glitter on the arrangement.

Place assorted smaller candle displays around the rest of the table. Candles can be lined up next to the centerpiece, for example. Tie a bunch of candy canes around thicker white or off-white candles with a red or green ribbon, and display thinner red and green candles on the table as well. Strewing the table with deep red rose petals is also an option, as are small Christmas ornament balls kept in pretty holiday dishes.
