If you are attending a craft show, chances are you will find more than one jewelry booth. With the mass variety of beads and designs available at craft stores, jewelry is the most common product that crafters create, making competition very heavy. Making your booth stand out is one of the most important aspects of selling jewelry at a craft show. Your booth must be organized, well lit and inviting so that customers feel comfortable visiting your booth.
Instructions
- 1
Set up your tent and walls according to the manufacturer's directions. This not only protects you from weather elements, such as rain or the hot sun, but serves as a visual block to other booths. Walls are important to keep your customers' attention on your jewelry and not get distracted by your neighbors' booths.
2Install lights to draw attention to your jewelry. Customers are attracted to well lit booths where they can clearly see what they are buying. Dark booths do not allow your jewelry to shine. Ask craft show organizers if there will be electricity available; if not, bring a battery and converter to plug in your lights. Lights are not necessary for outdoor shows. The natural light will be enough to make your booth bright, whether the sun is out or not.
3Set up your tables in a "U" shape so that customers can come into your booth and browse through your jewelry on all sides. Use plain table cloths to cover the tables and any boxes you have stored under them. White tablecloths are best for making jewelry colors stand out.
4Arrange jewelry so that it looks organized. Customers are more likely to buy something if they can touch it, so it is important to have a neat arrangement, where your jewelry pieces are not overlapping each other. Place your jewelry on the easels and then position them along the back edges of each table. Lay selects pieces of jewelry flat, so customers can get a full view of them. Make use of easels to display matching sets of earrings, necklaces and bracelets, and have a mirror handy for when customers try on different pieces.
5Display a banner across the front of your table with your name or your business' name. It distinguishes you from the competition and gives a more professional impression. Have business cards on hand so customers can contact you for information or future orders.
6Be a salesperson. Your booth will stand out from the competition if you make it a fun experience for shoppers. Let customers try on jewelry, ask them questions about their style and explain any of the pieces they pick, such as type of stone used or its durability. Customers are attracted to busy booths, and you can generate more activity by drawing people in with conversation and a positive atmosphere.
