Decorating your table for a dinner party or holiday can be a lot of fun. There are simple crafts you can create for your table setting for unique, personalized decorations. The crafts do not take a lot of time to make and are a great project to do with kids.
Place mat
Make a place mat for each place setting. You will need felt, scissors and glue. Create your place mat based on the season or occasion for your dinner. Start by cutting felt into 14-inch by 20-inch rectangles. Cut one rectangle per place setting. Using a contrasting color of felt cut-out images related to the theme for the table. If it is fall, you could cut leaves out, a snowman for winter, balloons for a birthday, etc. Glue your images to the corner of the place mat. Make sure your motif is not overlapping where the plate will be placed or it will tilt the plate.
Napkin Ring
Create a napkin ring with an empty toilet paper roll, felt and glue. Use the same color felt as selected for your place mat. Cut the toilet paper roll into 2-inch rings. Glue a 2-inch strip of felt around the toilet paper roll. Cut out similar motifs in a contrasting color of felt. If you have leaves on your place mat, cut out a leaf. For winter you could have a snowflake. Each napkin ring can have a different motif of a similar theme. Glue the felt motif to the top of the napkin ring.
Place Card Holder
Place card holders can be made with craft clay, felt and glue. Use craft clay that will harden when baked. Roll the clay into 3-inch thick tubes. Press the sides of the tubes to create a rectangle. On the top of the rectangle cut a slit for your place card to slide into. Bake the clay according to the manufacturer's instructions. Let the clay cool before working with it. Cut a motif similar to the other table setting projects from felt. Glue the felt motif to the bottom corner of the baked place card holder.
