Ideas to Make Crafts for a Table Centerpiece

Ideas to Make Crafts for a Table Centerpiece

If there is a table in your home that is lacking a touch of color, make a table centerpiece. A table centerpiece is a good way to allow your personal style and creativity to really shine through. Depending on the look that you are trying to create, there are a variety of ways to create a striking centerpiece that will dress up any table in your home.

Floral Sphere

A floral centerpiece is a classic choice to dress up a table. But a floral sphere is a new twist on this idea. To make one, pick up a Styrofoam ball at your local craft store. Cut the bottom of the Styrofoam ball flat so it doesn't roll around. Cut the stems of artificial flowers so that they're just long enough to fit securely in the Styrofoam. Stick artificial flowers into the Styrofoam ball until it's covered with flowers. Use artificial flowers that match the season. For example, use brightly colored daisies during the spring and summer. Place your floral sphere on a metallic or wooden tray to enhance the look of this centerpiece.

Candles

If you want to give the table a soft romantic glow, use votive candles for a table centerpiece. Instead of pricey candleholders, use empty tin cans for a rustic centerpiece. Use a hammer and a nail to make holes in the tin can. Make designs with the hammer and nail on the can such as hearts, butterflies or other shapes. Repeat this process on three more cans. Place a grouping of tin cans on the center of the table or align the tin cans on a weathered wooden board.

Citrus Fruits

Look to the kitchen for inspiration for this centerpiece. To make a citrus centerpiece, cut slices of grapefruit, mandarins, tangerines, kumquats, limes or lemon. Go ahead and mix and match the fruit to give the centerpiece bright pops of color. Arrange the slices in a square glass container so that the colors alternate. Place flowers that contrast the color of the fruit inside the vase. For example, yellow lemons or green limes work well with red roses.

Twigs

A stroll through your backyard can provide material for a visually stunning table centerpiece. Gather long thin twigs. Wipe the twigs with a damp towel to remove dirt. Let the twigs dry, then brush on a light layer of adhesive. Sprinkle iridescent or colored glitter on the twigs. If you want a glamorous look, spray paint the twigs with metallic spray paint. While the paint is still wet, dust the twigs with glitter. Arrange the twigs in a frosted vase for a gorgeous winter centerpiece. Tuck some metallic curling ribbon among the twigs and around the vase for a festive look.
