One of the easiest ways to brighten up your home is by setting a beautiful table. While centerpieces and other table decor is easily purchased at many stores, making your own decorations will allow you to save money and redecorate the table more frequently. There are several easy ways to create unique table decorations that are inexpensive and quick to create.
Ribbon Wrapped Napkin Rings
Unique napkin rings will brighten a table with little cost or effort. Wide ribbons or strips of felt can be glued onto paper towel rolls that have been cut to a size that will fit the material. Finish the look by tying a smaller ribbon in a complimentary color around the ring. Get creative by adding any other embellishments such as sequins or beads, just glue them in place where ever you prefer. Once the glue has dried, slip a folded napkin through the ring and place on your table.
Elegant Candles
Turn an ordinary candle into a stunning centerpiece for your table with just a few easy steps. Choose a candle in a color that you prefer, size is not important but a larger candle will be easier to work with. The candle can be decorated two different ways. Many craft stores sell glue sticks that have glitter already embedded in the glue. Use these sticks with your hot glue gun to apply the glue in any pattern you like. If glitter glue sticks are not available, swirl glue onto the candle in your preferred pattern and roll the candle in glitter. Choose a glitter color that will complement the color of the candle and be sure to let the glue dry thoroughly before lighting the candle.
Fruity Candles
Candle holders made from real fruit make a beautiful display when grouped in the middle of the table. Any fruit can be used, but harder fruits such as apples and melons work the best. Place a tea light on the top of the fruit and trace around the outside. Cut the hole deeply enough to embed the candle snugly in the hole. Rinsing the fruit with lemon juice will help to prevent the fruit from browning. Once the candles are placed in the fruits, simply arrange groupings of fruit on the table in any way you please. Larger fruits can be used to hold tapered candles as well. Make the hole for these candles deep enough to hold the candle stable and avoid tipping.
