Wedding Candy Table Ideas

Wedding Candy Table Ideas

A new and quickly growing trend in the wedding world is a candy table at the reception. There is something about a table overflowing with candy that makes everyone smile. You can use your imagination to make a fun and mouth-watering display of sweets that will be a hit with all your guests.

Theme

Yes, the candy will be devoured, but a candy table should also be a feast for the eyes. You could start with your wedding colors and build a buffet of five or 10 kinds of candies. For example, if your primary wedding color is red, you might display Red Hots, red Jolly Ranchers, red M&Ms, small KitKats, etc. You also could choose a theme not related to color. For example, if your wedding is near Christmas, you could choose traditional Christmas candies; if you are having a beach wedding, you could use boardwalk candies like saltwater taffy and fudge. Or, you could create a candy table with a collection of the bride and groom's favorite candies.

Candy Choices

Add to the visual appeal of your candy buffet with various textures, sizes and shapes. Use some wrapped candy, and some that is not wrapped, like jelly beans. Have hard candy and chewy candy, sweet candy and sour candy. You can check with the hundreds of online candy distributors for ideas and for the best price. Make sure your candy buffet is overflowing; if it looks skimpy, guests might shy away from partaking. If you are having an outdoor reception, don't choose candy that will melt in the sun. And consider making decorative labels to identify the different kinds of candy.

Display Vessels

There are various ways to display your candy choices. Most brides choose clear glass or plastic containers in unique shapes and sizes. You also can use opaque vessels, such as pails, baskets or boxes. The containers should be of varying heights, and the mouths of the containers should be wide enough to accommodate small scoops or tongs. Use your grandmother's crystal collection or find simple jars or vases at a dollar store. Use cake stands, platters or other serving dishes to display candy that will not roll away.

Individual Containers

If your candy table is set up like a typical buffet, you will want to provide small containers so that guests can collect their favorites. Little bags or mini boxes with a custom monogram sticker or stamp give the guests a special favor to bring home. Clear plastic cups or napkins will work for those who eat their goodies right away.
