If you happen upon an old table at a garage sale with a top that's too worn too survive any refinishing, or simply have such a table at home, you can mask the condition of the surface. Adding ceramic or stone pieces not only covers a worn or plain table, but it completely reinvents the piece of furniture. Spray the table top with an all-purpose cleaner. Wipe it down completely and allow it to air-dry.
2Arrange your turquoise stones or ceramic turquoise pieces around the table top. Freely experiment with the shapes and designs that you can create. Once you find a pattern that you like, lift each piece one-by-one and add a dab of ceramic adhesive underneath the stone or piece, and press it in place.
3Mix the grout with water, adding the water slowly until it has the consistency of cake batter. Place a layer of grout over the ceramic or stone-covered table top with your grout float. Press the grout into the crevices between the stones.
4Wipe away the excess with a damp sponge. Allow it to air dry.
5Dip your paintbrush into some tile sealer. Apply a thin layer to the table top and allow it to dry for 48 hours.
