Easy Homemade Christmas Centerpiece Ideas

Easy Homemade Christmas Centerpiece Ideas

Setting an attractive table for Christmas festivities starts with a good centerpiece. The centerpiece is the focal point of the table and should be one of a kind. Making your own centerpiece will not only be less expensive than buying one in a retail store, but also allows you to use your creativity to express yourself. Does this Spark an idea?

Ornament Bowl Centerpiece

A sparkling frosted bowl that is filled with pretty ornaments will brighten up your holiday table. To make it, place miniature battery powered Christmas lights in the bottom of a frosted bowl. Electrically operated lights can be used as well as long as there is an outlet available. On top of the lights, place enough round, glass ornaments to fill the bowl completely with plenty standing over the top of the bowl so they can be seen well. Place the bowl on a bed of garland or surround the bottom with holly leaves to complete the look.

Christmas Tray

Attractive silver or gold trays can be found at yard sales or thrift stores or you may already have one at home. Use it for a holiday centerpiece by placing it on the table and arranging pine boughs on it. Add a few red and green votive candles in glass holders as well as a pine cone or two. Finish the look by scattering a few Christmas ornaments in the empty spaces of the tray. Light the candles right before a meal and watch the lights make the ornaments sparkle.

Homemade Christmas Centerpiece

Bring the snow to your holiday table using papier-mache. Squish newspaper into balls that are 4 inches around and wrap them securely with masking tape. You will need 15 balls for an average size bowl. Mix together 2 parts white glue with 1 part warm water and cut tissue paper into 2 inch strips. Doing one ball at a time, cover the entire ball with the glue mixture and then wrap the tissue strips around the ball in alternating directions until the whole ball is covered. More glue can be added as it is needed and the balls will dry nicely if set in an egg carton. Once the balls are dry, cover them with white acrylic paint and sprinkle them with glitter while the paint is still wet. Place dry snowballs in a silver bowl and place votive candles around it to bring out the sparkle in the snow.
