How to Set Up Booths for Jewelry

How to Set Up Booths for Jewelry

Displaying jewelry at a craft fair, trade show or even in a shopping mall can be a rewarding and creative experience. Put your imagination to work and develop attractive settings and color schemes that will entice customers to your display. Even if your jewelry designs are trendy and top-notch, fewer people will notice them at a crowded craft fair or convention hall without an eye-catching, comfortable display booth.

Instructions

    1

Determine the available booth space. If you're displaying jewelry at a craft or trade show, ask about the booth dimensions. Booth sizes vary according to the show operators and whether the show takes place outdoors, in a mall or in a large convention center. If displaying jewelry at an outdoor show, you'll need to purchase a tent or canopy from a camping supply store or trade show supplier, and set up the booth underneath it. At a indoor mall or craft fair, you may need a portable wall or banner wall to place behind display tables.

    2

Plan your layout in advance. Decide what jewelry to bring, based on booth size and the nature of the show. A cross-section of items can display your expertise to wholesalers, while summer or leisure-themed jewelry might work better at an outdoor craft fair. Determine how many tables and chairs you'll need to bring. Some show organizers provide them for participants. Order or print out banners, brochures and business cards in advance and include them on one of the display tables.

    3

Use easy-to-set-up, portable trays. Whether you're setting up a booth at a trade show, craft show or a retail store, it should require minimal preparation and maintenance. Keep stacking jewelry display trays to store and show most items. Velvet-lined trays come in different sizes to carry rings, brooches, necklaces and other items, and you can transport them in wheeled luggage or a carrying case. Removable easel trays are handy for displaying necklaces. Remove the necklaces to show customers. Other types of jewelry are easily viewable in their trays until purchase.

    4

Place clearly marked signs on display tables. Use printed signs or cards in a striking but easy-to-read font and affix them to displays containing particular jewelry groups (necklaces and earrings) indicating price or other information. Decorate the signs with ribbons, bows or other ornaments for an elegant touch.

    5

Brighten up your booth with lights. A well-lit booth draws customers in and allows them to see jewelry clearly. Attractive lighting also aids them when trying on pieces and looking in mirrors. Even if the organizer provides lighting options, bring your own lights. Options include clip-on lamps that attach to display boards and adjustable swing-arm lamps that can illuminate different areas as needed.

    6

Use inventive themes. A creative booth design highlighting a jewelry design or line will attract customers to your display. If you sell a line of pins and necklaces based on cat themes, for example, you can place trays or necklaces near a small statue of Bast, the cat goddess.
